What's in the package — and what isn't
Our tour packages carry the full expedition kit: canoe, paddles, vests in your sizes, waterproof barrels, tent, stove, cook set and maps.
Bring yourself: sleeping bag and pad, clothing, provisions and personal gear. The rest of the list:
- A wool layer for evenings — even in July
- Rain jacket and sun protection (often the same day)
- Mosquito repellent for June and July
- Headlamp, first aid kit, water bottle
- Sturdy shoes for landing on rock
- Provisions — supermarkets in Ed, minutes from the camp
The right of public access, briefly
Sweden's allemansrätten opens nature to you — with clear rules of the game. We go through them at the briefing; the most important ones up front:
- One night per spot, out of sight of houses
- Fires only in safe places, never on rock slabs, never during a fire ban (we tell you the current status at the jetty)
- Carry all rubbish out — the campsites have no collection
- Dogs on a leash 1 March – 20 August
- Fishing only with a permit — sold in the camp shop
The nature conservation card
For the maintained DANO campsites (fire ring, firewood, dry toilet) you need the nature conservation card. It finances exactly that maintenance — and is ready for you in our camp shop. For multi-day packages we bring it up right at booking.
Safety: our briefing, your rules
Before every tour we take our time at the jetty: paddling technique, loading the canoe, reading wind, reading the map. After that, five rules we give every guest:
- Vests on — always, everyone, in the right size
- Paddle your legs in the morning; afternoon wind is strongest
- Stay near shore in wind, avoid open crossings
- Leave your route and return day with us
- When in doubt: wait a day. The lake isn't going anywhere.
Often underestimated
- Cold water well into June — swim with sense
- Phone signal thins out northward — download offline maps
- Drinking water: fill up at the reception; many guests boil lake water en route
- Showers and facilities at the camp — before and after the tour (shower token in the shop)
